The Fall is upon us the kids are back in school and the Woman’s Club is back to work. We took some time off to rejuvenate and recharge our bodies and minds and now it is full speed ahead.
Many of our projects will be receiving a great deal of attention in the coming months. Advocacy for Children has several important projects that we will be promoting, and we invite you to learn more and get involved.
The Linus Project is already underway, and we are looking for crafters—including quilters, crocheters, and knitters—to help us make comforting blankets for children who are facing difficult circumstances following tragedy.
Embrella is another outreach project that our ladies are especially passionate about. It is a wonderful example of how we can support children who sometimes become overlooked or lost within the foster care system.

Let us not forget Project Holiday Stocking!
If you have ever had a family member or friend in the military who was stationed overseas during the holiday season, you know how lonely and homesick our military personnel can become. Our Woman’s Club has become a proud provider of a little something special that can bring joy, comfort, and a connection to home for these servicemen and women.
We invite you to be a part of this wonderful project. You can help by donating some of the essential items that go into the stockings or by making a monetary donation to help cover the cost of the items and postage.

The cost to mail each stocking is $2.00, and this October we will be sending at least 65 stockings to our servicemen and women stationed overseas.
Every donation, large or small, helps us remind those who are serving our country that they are remembered, appreciated, and never forgotten—especially during the holiday season.
n August, I hinted at a new project that the Monroe Township Woman’s Club is promoting. This will be a large and important undertaking, and we hope it will prove beneficial to numerous families throughout Gloucester County.
The name of this exciting new initiative is Project Lifesaver.
We have coordinated with the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and some other counties to help provide tracking devices for individuals who are prone to wandering and could find themselves in a life-threatening situation. These devices have already been used to locate more than 4,100 missing individuals, with an average recovery time of approximately 30 minutes.
Through this program, tracking devices will be available free of charge or at a low cost, depending on individual circumstances, to qualifying individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, autism, or Down syndrome.
The device resembles a wristwatch, but unlike a traditional watch, it is designed to be non-removable, helping ensure that it remains with the individual should they wander.
We will be sharing more information about this important program later this month. We will also announce upcoming events where you will have an opportunity to meet members of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department, see their specially trained tracking dogs, and meet others involved in bringing Project Lifesaver to our community.
